Fendt 8.3.21 – Rear EPC (Electronic Power Control) control module (A005): Rotary control for "Position/traction hybrid control" for rear EPC — Signal fault
Issue description
This fault indicates that the signal from the rotary control dial (used to adjust the mix between position control and draft/traction control for the rear linkage) is missing, out of range, or corrupted. When this fault is active, the system defaults to a safe state, and the rear electrohydraulic power control (EPC) is locked out to prevent unintended movement of the rear lift.

Check the cause
Refer to the 'Electrohydraulic power lift control' circuit diagram for your specific chassis number
Verify the 9.5 V power supply to the A005 Rear EPC control module. A supply fault to the module can cause sensor signal faults
Check the signal line between the position/traction hybrid rotary control (on the side console) and the A005 module for open circuits, shorts to ground, or damaged pins
Check the cab fuse panel for any blown fuses related to the lifting gear control or the A005 module
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any attached implements (if possible), engage the handbrake, and turn off the ignition.
Access the Console
Carefully remove the trim panels on the right-hand control console to access the underside of the rotary controls and the A004/A005 control modules.
Test the Circuit
Using a multimeter, test the continuity of the signal wire from the rotary control potentiometer to the A005 module. Repair any broken wires or clean corroded connector pins.
Test the Rotary Control
Check the resistance/voltage sweep of the rotary control dial as it is turned. If there are dead spots or the signal is completely open, the rotary control itself has failed and must be replaced.
Component Replacement
Swap out the faulty rotary control switch/potentiometer. If the 9.5 V supply from the A005 module is dead despite good inputs, the A005 module itself may require replacement.
Calibration
If the EPC module (A005), the control console (A004), or the rotary controls are replaced, a complete calibration of the rear EPC must be carried out. Use the tractor's terminal or FENDIAS diagnostic tool to run Calibration codes 8001 and 8002.
Clear Codes
Clear the fault codes from the system and test the rear linkage operation to ensure the position/traction mix adjusts correctly.
