Fendt 8.3.22 – A005 - Rear EPC control module: B030 - Rear EPC position sensor — Signal line fault

The control unit is receiving an incorrect, missing, or out-of-range signal from the rear power lift position sensor (B030). This is often caused by a fault in the 9.5V or 10.0V reference supply voltage, the sensor being physically out of position, or an internal failure. As a result, the electrohydraulic power lift control (EPC) is barred and locked for safety, and the rear hitch will not function normally from the cab controls.

   Check Supply Voltage: Measure the reference voltage at the B030 sensor connector to ensure the A005 or A014 module is supplying 9.5V or 10.0V. If missing, trace wiring back to the ECU for shorts or breaks.

   Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Inspect the signal line for continuity and check for corrosion or loose pins at the sensor connector and separation points (e.g., X178).

   Mechanical Inspection: Verify that the sensor is not physically loose, out of position, or mechanically damaged on the lift arm.

   Live Data Check: Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to monitor the live voltage sweep of the B030 sensor while manually raising and lowering the lift arms via external buttons. Dead spots or static readings confirm a failed sensor (internal failure cause).

   Locate the Sensor

   The B030 rear power lift position sensor is located on the left rear lift arm. You may need to unscrew a protective cover panel to access it.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor. Unbolt and remove the sensor from its mounting bracket on the cross-beam/lift arm.

   Install the New Sensor

   Mount the replacement sensor in the correct orientation and secure the fasteners. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibrate the Sensor

   A new position sensor must be calibrated to the tractor's lift geometry. Access the tractor's terminal/dashboard calibration menu or use FENDIAS. Enter Calibration Code "8002" (Rear EPC position sensor B030 calibration) and follow the on-screen prompts to set the upper and lower limits.

   Test Operation

   Clear the fault codes and verify that the rear power lift operates smoothly from the in-cab controls. Reinstall the protective cover panel.
