Fendt 8.3.24 – Rear EPC module (A005) and Control console ECU (A004): Rear power lift "lift height limit" rotary control — Signal fault
Issue description
The electronic signal from the rotary control knob (which sets the maximum lift height limit for the rear power lift) is faulty, missing, or out of the expected voltage range. As a safety consequence, the system triggers a "Control locked" state, disabling the rear power lift functions.

Check the cause
Inspect the rotary control knob (P1 or P3) on the right-hand control console for physical damage or sticking.
Check electrical connections beneath the control console for loose pins, corrosion, or a disconnected harness leading to the Control console ECU (A004).
Test the signal line from the rotary potentiometer to the EPC module for continuity and shorts to ground or power.
Verify that the Rear EPC control module (A005) is receiving a stable 9.5V supply, as voltage drops can trigger false signal faults.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the control console.
Access the Console
Carefully remove the trim panels on the right-hand armrest/control console to expose the underside of the EPC rotary controls.
Test the Potentiometer
Disconnect the wiring harness from the "lift height limit" rotary control. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance sweep of the potentiometer as you turn the knob. If the resistance is open, infinite, or erratic, the switch has failed internally.
Replace the Component
Unbolt or unclip the faulty rotary control switch from the console bezel. Install the replacement rotary control and reconnect the wiring harness.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reinstall the console trim, reconnect the battery, and turn the ignition on. Use the tractor's multi-display/Vario terminal to call up the fault memory and delete the stored 8.3.24 fault code.
Calibration/Test
Test the rear power lift to ensure the "Control locked" state has cleared and the lift height limit adjusts correctly.
Parts you might need
(2)Rear power lift "lift height limit" rotary control / Potentiometer switch
Ensure the replacement part is specific to the Favorit 900 series with "twin control modules". Consult a Fendt dealer parts catalog using the tractor's specific chassis number (e.g., 23/3001 and up) to determine if it can be ordered separately.
