Fendt 8.3.35 – Rear EPC (Electronic Power Control) control module (A005): Rear power lift "Operating mode" rotary control — Signal fault
Issue description
The system is receiving an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the rotary control dial used to select the operating mode (e.g., position control, draft control, or mixed control) for the rear electrohydraulic power lift (EPC). The operating mode cannot be changed and the system will lock into its current setting or default to a safe state to prevent unintended implement movement.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the 'Operating mode' rotary control dial on the right-hand console for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.
Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool and monitor the live signal value for the operating mode rotary control. Turn the dial to see if the signal registers or if it drops out/spikes.
Access the underside of the EPC control panel. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the rotary control and trace it back to the A005 Rear EPC control module. Look for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires.
Disconnect the rotary control and use a multimeter to measure its resistance. Slowly turn the dial; the resistance should change smoothly. If the multimeter shows an open circuit, infinite resistance, or erratic jumps (dead spots), the rotary control has failed internally.
Verify that the A005 module is receiving stable voltage (between 1V and 18V). Voltage drops or spikes to the module can sometimes trigger false signal faults across its sensors.
Repair steps
Lower the rear power lift completely (if possible) to remove hydraulic pressure, turn off the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery ground cable.
Prepare the tractor for safe maintenance.
Carefully remove the trim panels on the right-hand control console to access the underside of the EPC control panel.
Gain access to the EPC control panel components.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty "Operating mode" rotary control.
Isolate the rotary control for replacement or further testing.
If the wiring harness was found to be damaged during diagnostics, repair the broken wire or replace the damaged connector pins using OEM repair pigtails.
Address any wiring faults identified during the diagnostic phase.
If the rotary control itself failed the multimeter test, remove the retaining nut or clips holding the switch in the console and extract it.
Remove the defective rotary control switch.
Install the replacement rotary control into the console and secure it.
Mount the new rotary control switch.
Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
Restore the electrical connection to the new switch.
Reassemble the right-hand console trim panels.
Restore the console to its original state.
Reconnect the battery ground cable and turn the ignition on.
Restore power to the tractor.
Use the tractor's terminal or FENDIAS software to clear the stored 8.3.35 fault code.
Clear the fault code from the system memory.
Test the rear power lift by cycling through the operating modes to confirm the signal fault has been resolved and full functionality is restored.
Verify the repair was successful.
