Fendt 8.3.41 – A004 Control Console: Rear power lift rapid lift control — Fault in switch / A004 contact

The system has detected an electrical fault, open circuit, or sticking contact within the rapid lift/lower switch located on the main control console. As a safety consequence, the rapid lowering system and fast feed-in functions are disabled, and lifting/lowering may only be possible via external fender buttons.

   Check Diagnostic Status: Access the tractor's diagnostic terminal and check the 'REAR EPC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS / STATUS' to verify the live state of the switch.

   CAN-Bus Verification: Check for accompanying CAN (K-Bus) communication faults between A004 and A014/A005. If multiple console buttons are failing, the issue is likely the K-Bus wiring or the A013 fuse board (check fuses F040, F041) rather than the switch itself.

   Switch Continuity Test: Consult the 'Electrohydraulic power lift control' circuit diagram. Test the rapid lift control switch on the A004 console for continuity to ensure it isn't physically stuck or suffering from internal contact failure.

   External Control Test: Test the external rear fender buttons. If the rear power lift operates normally via the external buttons, the fault is isolated to the A004 console switch.

   Inspect the Console

   Power down the tractor and inspect the rapid lift control switch on the A004 control console for physical damage, sticking, or debris lodged around the button mechanism.

   Check Wiring & Connections

   Remove the side panel to access the A004 Control Console wiring harness. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose fitment. Clean with contact cleaner if necessary.

   Replace the Switch/Console

   If the switch fails the continuity test, it must be replaced. On many Fendt Vario models, the switches are integrated into the A004 Control Console circuit board, requiring the repair or replacement of the console unit itself.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the console and clear the fault codes via the FENDIAS diagnostic tool or the onboard terminal.

   Recalibrate the Power Lift

   If the console or EPC modules were replaced, a calibration is required. Enter the calibration menu. Switch the rapid lift control to 'Lift'. The power lift will rise and halt at the top. Store the setting with the key (an OK pictogram will display). Switch the rapid lift control to 'Lower'. The power lift will lower and halt at the bottom. Store the setting with the key.
