Fendt 9.1.54 – Enhanced Control ECU (A002): Spool valve fault — Main piston travel too short
Issue description
The main piston inside the Y019 spool valve cannot complete its full travel stroke. This is typically caused by the hydraulic control pressure dropping below the required 22 bar threshold, or by hydraulic oil that is too cold and viscous. The system forces the spool valve into the neutral position as a safety measure.

Check the cause
Check hydraulic oil temperature — ensure the tractor is at operating temperature, as cold, highly viscous oil can cause this fault code to trigger falsely
Perform a control pressure test at measuring point M5 (located at the right entrance step on the underside of the end plate) to ensure pressure is at least 22 bar
Inspect the sintered-metal prefilter (FP) located in the P duct upstream of the control pressure valve for clogs
Test the control pressure diaphragm accumulator (0.32-liter capacity) to ensure it has not lost its nitrogen charge
Inspect the RV7 end plate shutoff valve (located on the lowest plate of the control valve array) for proper operation and leaks
Repair steps
Warm Up the Tractor
Run the machine until the hydraulic oil reaches normal operating temperature to rule out fluid viscosity issues. Clear the code and retest the Front Power Lift.
Measure M5 Pressure
If the code returns, locate the M5 test port under the right-hand cab step. Hook up a hydraulic pressure gauge. Actuate the valve and monitor the gauge.
Clean/Replace the Prefilter
If the pressure drops below 22 bar, locate the FP sintered-metal filter in the valve array end plate. Remove, inspect, and clean or replace the filter.
Replace the Accumulator
If the pressure fluctuates rapidly or drops instantly under load, the diaphragm accumulator has likely failed. Depressurize the hydraulic system, unthread the old accumulator from the end plate, and install a new one.
Inspect the Y019 Valve
If the M5 control pressure holds steady at 22+ bar but the 9.1.54 code persists, the Y019 spool valve itself is internally bypassing, binding, or has a failed position sensor. The spool valve slice will need to be removed from the central control block (ZSB) and replaced.
