9.1.B0

Fendt 9.1.B0 – Enhanced Control ECU (A002) or EPC-OBE ECU (A014): B040 Position Sensor Not Calibrated

Issue description

The system does not have a valid calibration baseline for the sensor's travel range, resulting in no position control available for the front power lift. The system may lock out automatic modes, allowing the lift to be operable only via external manual buttons.

Check the cause

  1. Check the Power Supply: Verify the 8.5 V DC supply to the B040 sensor. A loss of this supply is often traced back to the A013 fuse board (specifically fuse 11 or 12, depending on the exact model year).

  2. Check the Signal Line: Inspect the wiring harness for continuity and shorts. If the signal line is faulty, the system will typically throw the related code 9.1.B1 (Position sensor - Signal line fault).

  3. Physical Inspection: Ensure the sensor is physically mounted correctly, the linkage is intact, and the sensor is not out of position or mechanically damaged.

Repair steps

  1. Prepare the Tractor

Ensure the tractor is stationary and the engine is running. The emergency control must not be engaged during calibration.

  2. Access the Calibration Menu

Using the Fendt Vario terminal or FENDIAS diagnostic tool, navigate to the calibration menu.

  3. Enter the Calibration Code

Input the specific calibration code for the front power lift position sensor, which is 9002.

  4. Follow On-Screen Prompts

Move the front power lift through its full range of motion as prompted by the terminal to teach the ECU the upper and lower limits.

  5. Save the Calibration

If the conditions are met and values are within tolerance, the terminal will display "OK". If incorrect values are found (e.g., sensor linkage is broken or voltage is out of range), it will display "ERROR".

  6. Store the Data

The new sensor settings are only permanently stored when the ignition key is turned to position 0 (OFF). Turn the tractor off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on to verify the fault code has cleared.
