Issue description
The tractor's system has lost the calibration values for the front linkage (front power lift) position sensor. As a direct consequence, the tractor disables automatic position control for the front power lift, though it may still be operable manually via external buttons.

Check the cause
Check Sensor Supply Voltage: Verify that 8.5 VDC is reaching the sensor (often routed through fuse board A013, fuse 11 or 12 depending on the model).
Check the Signal Line: Verify the signal wire back to the ECU. With the ignition on, the signal voltage should vary smoothly (typically between 0 VDC and 6.7 VDC) as the front lift is moved through its physical range.
Check Linkage Mechanics: Ensure the front linkage is not physically jammed and can reach its upper and lower end positions, which is required for a successful calibration.
Repair steps
Warm up the tractor
Warm up the tractor (transmission oil temperature should ideally be above 40°C for general hydraulic calibrations, though front EPC can often be done independently).
Access diagnostic menu
Access the tractor's terminal/diagnostic menu.
Enter Calibration Code
Enter Calibration Code 9002 (Front EPC calibration / Front power lift position).
Calibrate limits
Follow the on-screen prompts to teach the system the upper and lower limits of the front power lift.
Evaluate calibration and sensor
If the calibration fails (e.g., throws a calibration fault code like F02 'Calibrated values are faulty'), or if the sensor voltage is erratic/dead, the B040 sensor is defective and must be replaced.
Replace and recalibrate
Replace the sensor and repeat Calibration Code 9002. Any time a new position sensor is installed, it must be calibrated before the system will restore position control.
