Check the cause
Test external controls by attempting to raise the front power lift using the external fender pushbuttons (switch S021). If successful, the issue is isolated to the in-cab A004 switch.
Inspect the 'Raise' quick lift switch on the A004 operating console for physical damage, sticking, or debris lodged around the membrane/button.
Check for related CAN faults (such as 9.1.C6). If present, this indicates a potential wiring or voltage supply problem (check fuses F040, F041) rather than a faulty switch.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts or CAN bus spikes.
Remove Trim
Carefully remove the plastic trim and bezels surrounding the right-hand A004 operating console.
Disconnect Harnesses
Unplug the main electrical connectors (CAN bus and power supply lines) from the bottom/rear of the A004 ECU.
Remove the Console
Unbolt the mounting hardware securing the A004 console to the armrest/side panel and remove the unit.
Install Replacement/Repaired Unit
Mount the new or refurbished A004 operating console and secure the hardware.
Reconnect
Plug in all electrical harnesses and reinstall the surrounding trim. Reconnect the battery.
Calibration / EOL Programming
Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool. Clear the stored 9.1.C4 fault code. Depending on the tractor generation, End-of-Line (EOL) programming or a teach-in procedure may be required so the main tractor ECU recognizes the new A004 control panel.
Parts you might need
(1)A004 Operating Console / Control Panel ECU
Exact part numbers vary heavily based on the specific tractor series and chassis number breaks. Ensure any replacement console matches the exact COM generation (e.g., COM III) of the tractor.
