Fendt 9.1.C6 / C7 / C8 / C9 / CA – A004 Control Console: A004 - Control console — CAN-bus fault

There is a communication failure on the CAN bus network to or from the operating console. The system registers 'Malfunctions which cannot be further specified'. Consequently, engagement or disengagement of various tractor functions (such as PTO, all-wheel drive, or hydraulics) may be overridden, locked out, or completely unavailable.

   Check the voltage supply for the CAN-Bus on fuse board A013; specifically, inspect fuses F040 and F041.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the A004 console for chafing, and check the pins for green corrosion or moisture ingress.

   Connect the AGCO FENDIAS diagnostic tool (via WinEEM4) to read real-time data and verify if the A004 module is completely offline or if it is an intermittent signal drop.

   Safety First

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts. If working near hydraulic controls, manually relieve pressure from the central control block, as accumulators can hold up to 200 bar even with the engine off.

   Resolve Power Issues

   If fuses F040/F041 are blown, replace them and test the system. If they blow again immediately, trace the CAN wiring for a short to ground.

   Clean Connections

   If corrosion is found at the console's harness connector, clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease.

   Remove the Console

   If power and wiring are intact, the A004 console itself has likely suffered an internal electronic failure. Remove the steering column cover or side console paneling (depending on the specific Vario model) to unbolt and extract the A004 unit.

   Repair or Replace

   Send the defective A004 unit to a specialized agricultural mechatronics repair service (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics or Tachoreparatur24) for internal board repair, or install a new OEM replacement.

   Reprogramming

   After reinstalling a repaired or new A004 console, EOL (End of Line) reprogramming or calibration via the FENDIAS diagnostic software may be necessary to pair the console with the tractor's main ECU and joystick.
