A.1.21

Fendt A.1.21 – Enhanced Control ECU (A002): Y016 - Spool valve fault, valve 2 — EEPROM inconsistent

Issue description

The internal memory (EEPROM) of the electronic control head on auxiliary control valve 2 contains corrupted data, or the electronic module itself has suffered a hardware failure. As a safety measure, the valve automatically moves into the neutral position, and valve actuation is completely disabled.

Check the cause

  1. Use a diagnostic tool (such as TEXA Navigator TXTs or Fendt's SERDIA/Fendias) to read the KWP codes and confirm if the error is currently active or just stored in the history.

  2. Verify the voltage reaching the valve. Check the power supply for the CAN bus circuit board (A013) and inspect fuses F040 and F041.

  3. Inspect the CAN bus connection to valve Y016 (CAN II pins 4 and 5) for continuity, corrosion, or damaged pins.

  4. Bench test the solenoid coils on the valve for proper resistance to rule out a standard electrical short.

Repair steps

  1. Attempt Reprogramming

Connect the tractor to the Fendias/SERDIA diagnostic software. Attempt an EOL (End of Line) reprogramming of the valve. Sometimes, rewriting the configuration data can resolve an inconsistent EEPROM without replacing parts.

  2. Depressurize the System

If reprogramming fails, the valve's electronic head (or the entire valve assembly) must be replaced. Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the CAN bus and power connectors from valve Y016 (Valve 2).

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the faulty spool valve from the hydraulic valve block stack.

  5. Clean and Prep

Thoroughly clean the valve bore and mounting surface to prevent any dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic system.

  6. Install the Replacement

Install the new selective control valve or electronic repair kit using new O-rings/seals. Torque the mounting bolts to manufacturer specifications.

  7. Re-register the Valve

Reconnect the wiring. You must use the diagnostic tool to perform EOL programming so the Enhanced Control ECU recognizes the new valve on the CAN bus.
