A.1.30

Fendt A.1.30 – Basic Control Unit (ECU - A050): Spool valve fault, valve 3

Issue description

The tractor's electronic control system has lost communication with the electronic actuator on the 3rd auxiliary hydraulic control valve. As a safety consequence, valve actuation is disabled, and the valve defaults to a locked or neutral position.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the electrical connector at Spool Valve 3 (Y017) for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

  2. Verify the integrity of the CAN II bus wires (Pins 4 and 5) between the valve and the main ECU.

  3. Check that the valve is receiving a steady 12V supply and has a clean ground (voltage drops below 8V or spikes above 18V can disrupt communication).

  4. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to connector X412 to read live parameters and check for internal EEPROM inconsistencies.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure by cycling the joystick/levers.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear hydraulic valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect Electronics

Unplug the CAN bus electrical connector from the faulty Y017 valve actuator.

  4. Remove the Actuator/Valve

Unscrew the mounting hardware securing the actuator to the valve spool. If the entire valve slice is worn or leaking internally, disconnect the rear hydraulic pipes, remove the tie-rod nuts holding the valve stack together, and slide the faulty valve section out.

  5. Installation

Install the new proportional solenoid or valve section. If the stack was separated, ensure all O-rings between the valve slices are replaced and seated correctly. Torque the tie-rods to OEM specifications.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the CAN bus electrical connector.

  7. Calibration

Turn on the ignition. The new valve must be registered on the CAN bus. Use the tractor's terminal or the FENDIAS software to calibrate the new spool valve so the ECU recognizes its parameters and neutral position.
