Fendt A.1.30 – Enhanced Control ECU (A002): Y017 - Spool valve fault, valve 3 — Valve cannot be recognised by valve bus

This fault code indicates a communication failure on the CAN bus network. The Y017 auxiliary control valve (Valve 3, color-coded red) is not registered on the CAN bus. Because there is no signal flowing from the valve to the valve bus, the system disables the valve, resulting in no valve operation being available.

   Check fuses F040 and F041 in circuit board A013 to verify the power supply for the CAN bus.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at CAN II pins 4 and 5 for breaks, corrosion, or loose connections.

   Locate the Y017 auxiliary control valve (Valve 3, color-coded red) on the underside of the central control block to verify physical condition.

   Access the central control block on most Vario models by unscrewing and removing the right-hand step/entry, and pulling the right auxiliary fuel/hydraulic tank outwards.

   Locate the 3rd control valve (Y017) on the underside of the central control block.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the Y017 valve. Test for proper voltage and CAN bus continuity back to the A002 ECU (pins 4 and 5).

   If the wiring, fuses (F040/F041), and CAN signals are intact but the valve still fails to report to the bus, the internal electronics of the valve are faulty. Replace the valve or its electronic actuator head.

   Program the replacement auxiliary control valve for its specific position (position 3 / red) using the Fendt EOL (End of Line) programming software / FENDIAS diagnostic tool.
