A.1.31

Fendt A.1.31 – A002 - ECU (Enhanced Control) / Y017: Y017 - Spool valve fault, valve 3 — EEPROM inconsistent

Issue description

Internal electronic failure within the spool valve's control module indicating the EEPROM data is corrupted, inconsistent, or the electronics in the valve are faulty. As a safety measure, the system forces Valve 3 into the neutral position and locks it out to prevent uncontrolled hydraulic functions.

Applies to these machines

Check the cause

  1. Cycle power to the tractor to see if the EEPROM inconsistency is a transient software glitch

  2. Verify the power supply to the Y017 valve is stable between 8V and 18V, as voltage spikes or drops can cause logic errors

  3. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness at connector X328 (Pins 23, 24, 26) for corrosion or damage, and verify CAN II communication on pins 4 and 5

  4. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to see if the valve's EOL (End of Line) programming can be reflashed or re-taught to clear the error

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Valve

The Y017 valve (Valve 3, color-coded red) is located on the underside of the central hydraulic control block.

  2. Gain Access

Unscrew and remove the right-hand entry step.

  3. Clearance

Pull the right auxiliary fuel/hydraulic tank outwards to gain physical access to the valve block.

  4. Replacement

Disconnect the X328 electrical connector. Unbolt the Y017 valve slice from the hydraulic manifold block and install the replacement unit. Ensure O-rings are seated correctly to prevent leaks.

  5. Reassembly

Push the auxiliary tank back into place and reinstall the right entry step.

  6. Calibration

Use the FENDIAS diagnostic laptop to perform EOL (End of Line) programming. The tractor must be programmed to recognize the new valve specifically as 'Position 3' on the CAN bus.
