A.1.31

Fendt A.1.31 – ECU (Electronic Control Unit) / Enhanced Control: Spool valve fault, valve 3, EEPROM inconsistent

Issue description

The fault points to component Y017 (Auxiliary control valve, position 3 (red)). When triggered, the system forces the valve into the neutral position to prevent uncontrolled hydraulic functions.

Check the cause

  1. Perform a system reset: Turn the engine OFF, then back ON. Attempt to unlock the valve using the lever or toggle switches to see if the EEPROM fault clears.

  2. Check supply voltage: Ensure the valve is receiving proper voltage. Verify the tractor's charging system and battery health, as voltage irregularities (< 8V or > 18V) can cause valve faults.

  3. Inspect wiring and connectors: Check the wiring harness and connector X328 (specific to Y017 / Valve 3) for corrosion, moisture, or line discontinuity.

  4. Check hydraulic oil temperature: Cold hydraulic oil can cause valve operation issues. Operate the tractor until the oil warms up and try unlocking the valve again.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Turn off the tractor, lower all implements, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

  2. Locate the Valve

Locate Valve 3 (Y017 - indicated by the red color coding) in the rear hydraulic spool valve block.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector (X328) from the valve.

  4. Removal

Unbolt the faulty directional spool valve from the valve block. Be careful to catch any residual hydraulic fluid.

  5. Installation

Install the replacement valve. Ensure that new O-rings are used to preserve the factory seal and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Reconnection

    Reconnect the X328 electrical connector.

  7. EOL Programming

Because the new valve has a blank or unrecognized EEPROM, you must perform End-of-Line (EOL) programming using FENDIAS diagnostic software. The ECU must be programmed to recognize the new auxiliary control valve in position 3.
