A.1.37

Fendt A.1.37 – Electrical Auxiliary Control Valves (VENDI): Spool valve fault, valve 3. Internal position sensor fault

Issue description

The valve cannot determine the position of its spool. As a safety measure, the valve automatically moves into the neutral position and locks.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the fault code on the Vario terminal, noting that cancelling a message only hides it and does not clear the fault.

  2. Check for related codes indicating supply voltage issues (A.1.32 / A.1.33) or oil contamination (A.1.38 / A.1.39).

  3. Ensure the manual actuation lever does not have excessive play and that the slider returns to the middle (neutral) position by itself.

  4. Check the CAN bus communication and wiring harness to the position 3 valve (Y017) to rule out a broken wire mimicking a dead sensor.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system before starting work.

  2. Cleanliness

Thoroughly clean the area around the hydraulic valve block. Keeping the workspace clean during installation is critical to prevent oil contamination that can cause the main piston to stick.

  3. Removal

Disconnect the electrical harness from the Y017 (Position 3) valve. If removing the whole valve section from the block, pay close attention to the tie bolts and ensure shuttle valves/O-rings are accounted for.

  4. Installation

Install the replacement selective control valve or actuator head.

  5. Maintenance

Check your hydraulic filter and fluid condition while the system is apart.

  6. Calibration/Clearing

Turn on the tractor, navigate to the fault code menu on the terminal, and clear the A.1.37 code. Test the hydraulic function of the red valve to ensure the CAN bus recognizes the new sensor.
