Fendt A.1.3B – ELECTRICAL VALVES VALVE 3 / VENDI: Spool valve fault, valve 3 - Floating position is not reached
Issue description
The internal main piston/spool of the 3rd auxiliary control valve is failing to physically reach or register the floating position when commanded. This is often caused by mechanical binding, oil contamination, or a failure in the valve's internal position pickup sensor. The system defaults to a safe state, and the valve moves into neutral position.

Check the cause
Check for Manual Override: Verify if the floating position has been deflected/set manually (which triggers a related informational code A.1.3C).
Inspect for Oil Contamination: Check hydraulic fluid condition and filters, as contamination can prevent the main piston from returning to neutral or reaching float (related code A.1.39).
Electrical & CAN Bus Checks: Inspect connector X328 (the specific connector for Y017 / Valve 3) for corrosion or loose pins.
Electrical & CAN Bus Checks: Verify CAN bus voltage supply on printed circuit board A013 (check fuses F040, F041, and F047).
Electrical & CAN Bus Checks: Check for overvoltage (> 45 V) which can trigger related code A.1.35 and force the valve into neutral.
Sensor Verification: Check if the position pickup sensor has failed (which would trigger code A.1.37) or if the setpoint message is missing/implausible (code A.1.3F).
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Ensure the tractor is turned off, lowered to the ground, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system before beginning work.
Locate the Valve Block
The Y017 (Valve 3 / Red) is part of the Bosch SB 23 LS-EHS 2 auxiliary control valve block. Depending on the model, this is located either on top of the rear axle housing (which may require removing the driver seat and floor panel) or on the underside of the central control block (accessible by unscrewing the right step and pulling the right auxiliary tank outwards).
Disconnect Electrical Harness
Carefully unplug connector X328 from the Y017 valve head.
Remove the Valve/Actuator
Unbolt the electronic actuator head or the entire spool valve section from the manifold block.
Inspect and Clean
Check the spool for scoring or debris. If the valve is simply jammed by contamination, a thorough cleaning of the hydraulic circuit and spool may resolve the issue.
Replace Components
If the internal position sensor is faulty or the spool is heavily scored, replace the spool valve head or the complete valve section.
Reassembly and Calibration
Install the new valve and reconnect X328. Important: The new auxiliary control valve must be programmed/calibrated for 'position 3' using the Fendt EOL (End of Line) diagnostic program.
