A.1.41

Fendt A.1.41 – SPOOL VALVES 1 – 4 (Y018): Spool valve fault, valve 4 — EEPROM inconsistent

Issue description

The electronic memory (EEPROM) inside the integrated electronics of the number 4 auxiliary spool valve contains corrupted, missing, or invalid calibration data. Because the valve's controller cannot verify its operating parameters, the system triggers a safety override, and the valve automatically moves into the neutral position and locks out.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the supply voltage to the Y018 valve to ensure the harness is delivering a steady 12V-14V, ruling out voltage spikes or drops

  2. Use a diagnostic tool to scan the hydraulic valve CAN bus (A002 CAN II) and verify the valve is recognized

  3. Determine if the EEPROM error is currently active or just a stored historical code from a previous voltage drop

Repair steps

  1. Attempt EOL Reprogramming

Connect your diagnostic interface and perform an EOL (End of Line) programming / calibration on the spool valves to attempt to rewrite the memory.

  2. Clear and Retest

If the calibration is successful, clear the fault codes and cycle the tractor's ignition (Key reset: OFF/ON). Test the fingertip controls to see if valve 4 responds.

  3. Replace the Valve

If the EOL programming fails (e.g., the diagnostic tool reports an 'Error while saving calibrated values to EEPROM'), the internal circuit board of the Y018 valve has suffered a hard hardware failure. The spool valve or its electronic actuator head must be replaced.

  4. Post-Replacement Calibration

After installing a new Y018 valve, you must perform EOL programming so the tractor's ECU registers the new valve's serial/CAN ID and calibrates its travel limits.
