Fendt A.1.42 – ECU, enhanced control, electric auxiliary control valves (A002): Y018 (Auxiliary control valve / Spool valve, valve 4) Supply voltage < 8 volts
Issue description
Supply voltage is less than 8 volts. Due to the low voltage condition, the valve actuator cannot operate safely. The system automatically forces Valve 4 into the neutral position and locks it out to prevent undefined or uncontrolled hydraulic functions.

Check the cause
Verify the tractor's battery and alternator output for a general low voltage condition.
Inspect fuses F040 and F041 on printed circuit board A013, which supply voltage to the enhanced control ECU and auxiliary valves.
Inspect the wiring harness and connector for Valve 4 (Y018) for corrosion, moisture, breaks, or shorts. Test pin voltage to ensure a minimum of 8V is reaching the valve.
Do not swap electrical plugs between different spool valves to test functionality, as each plug is configured for its specific function on the CAN bus and swapping can cause configuration errors or damage.
Repair steps
Trace the Voltage
If a multimeter shows less than 8 volts at the Y018 connector, trace the wiring back to the A013 circuit board. Repair any damaged wires or replace blown fuses (F040/F041).
Evaluate the Valve Electronics
If the supply voltage at the connector is healthy (well above 8V) but the A.1.42 code persists, the internal microchip/electronic card inside the spool valve head has likely failed.
Replace the Valve/Solenoid
The electronic head of the valve usually cannot be repaired internally. You will need to replace the spool valve or the specific solenoid actuator head.
EOL Programming
After installing a new electronic spool valve, connect a diagnostic tool (such as TEXA or FENDIAS). You must perform an End-of-Line (EOL) programming/calibration so the CAN bus recognizes the new valve configuration.
