Fendt A.1.46 – ELECTRICAL VALVES (E-box): Y018 Spool valve fault, valve 4 - Magnet output stage fault within spool valve
Issue description
The system has detected an electrical failure in the magnet output stage (the driver circuit/solenoid) that controls the pilot stage of Auxiliary Control Valve 4 (Y018, typically the green valve). For safety, the system forces the valve into the neutral position, and manual/automatic actuation of this specific hydraulic circuit is disabled.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the Y018 (Valve 4 / Green) auxiliary control valve for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.
Test the resistance of the solenoid coil on Valve 4 to determine if the coil itself has failed (shorted or open).
Verify that the valve is receiving proper supply voltage from the E-box.
Perform a swap test by temporarily swapping the electrical connector from Valve 4 (Y018) with Valve 3 (Y017) to see if the fault code follows the wiring (E-box/harness issue) or stays with the valve (internal valve/solenoid failure).
Repair steps
Preparation
Lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/joystick to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.
Access the Valve Block
Locate the rear selective control valve block. Identify Valve 4 (Y018 - usually color-coded green).
Component Replacement
If diagnostics point to a failed solenoid coil, remove the retaining nut on the end of the spool valve and slide the old solenoid off. Install the new solenoid and torque to spec. If the internal magnet output stage (integrated electronics) of the valve has failed, the entire selective control valve section must be replaced. Disconnect the hydraulic lines (cap them to prevent contamination) and unbolt the valve slice from the manifold block.
Installation
Install the new valve or solenoid. Ensure all mating surfaces and O-rings are perfectly clean to prevent oil contamination, which can cause secondary mechanical faults.
Calibration & Clearing
Reconnect the wiring harness. Turn on the tractor and use the terminal/multiple display to clear the stored A.1.46 fault code. Test the valve using the Variotronic joystick to ensure proper operation.
