A.1.46

Fendt A.1.46 – Enhanced Control ECU (A002) / E-box: Spool valve fault, valve 4 — Magnet output stage fault within spool valve

Issue description

An internal electronic failure within the spool valve itself. Specifically, the output stage (the internal driver circuit) that controls the solenoid magnet for Valve 4 has failed. As a safety consequence, the system forces the valve to move into the neutral position and disables its operation.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect connector X329 (the specific connector for Valve 4 / Y018) for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

  2. Verify the valve is receiving proper supply voltage (between 8V and 18V). Voltage drops or overvoltage (>45V) can trigger related codes and cause erratic internal module behavior.

  3. Check CAN bus communication on Signal flow diagram A002 CAN II pins 4 and 5 to ensure the valve is communicating.

  4. Clear the fault code via the tractor's terminal. If the code returns immediately upon actuating Valve 4, the internal magnet output stage is permanently damaged.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the engine and actuate the hydraulic levers to relieve residual pressure in the hydraulic system.

  2. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the X329 electrical connector from the Y018 valve (Position 4, typically color-coded green on the remote block).

  3. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the Y018 directional control valve from the auxiliary hydraulic valve block assembly. Be prepared to catch residual hydraulic oil.

  4. Install the New Valve

Mount the replacement valve, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated and lubricated. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  5. Reconnect and Bleed

Reconnect the X329 connector. Start the tractor and check for hydraulic leaks.

  6. EOL Programming

The new auxiliary control valve must be programmed using the FendtEST diagnostic tool (End-Of-Line programming) so the tractor's ECU recognizes it and assigns it to position 4 (green).
