Check the cause
Hydraulic Oil Temperature: Check if the hydraulic oil is too cold, which can cause sluggish spool movement.
Control Pressure: Verify that the hydraulic control pressure has not dropped below 22 bar.
Oil Contamination: Inspect the hydraulic system for oil contamination that could cause the main piston to mechanically bind.
Terminal Calibration Check: Check if the valve simply needs to be recalibrated to relearn its end stops.
Repair steps
Warm Up the System
Bring the tractor's hydraulic oil up to normal operating temperature and retest the auxiliary valve to see if the floating position can now be reached.
Calibrate the Spool Valves
Access the tractor's terminal to perform a calibration of the hydraulic auxiliary spool valves. Enter the calibration menu (often accessed via input code 1001 for the crossgate lever or codes 1003–1006 for linear modules 1–4) and follow the on-screen prompts to let the valve relearn its neutral, working, and floating positions.
Inspect and Clean
If calibration fails, physically inspect the Y018 valve (Valve 4). Remove the valve and check for internal scoring or contamination. Clean the valve block and spool thoroughly.
Replace the Valve
If the spool is permanently jammed, the internal position sensor is faulty, or the magnet output stage has failed, the Y018 valve must be replaced.
EOL Programming
After installing a new valve, it must be calibrated and programmed for 'position 4' in the EOL (End of Line) program via the FENDIAS diagnostic software.
Parts you might need
(1)Auxiliary Control Valve, Position 4 (Y018)
Valve 4 is color-coded Green on the hydraulic block and terminal. Order using the tractor's specific chassis number through the Fendt Epsilon parts catalog.
