A.1.4C

Fendt A.1.4C – Enhanced Control ECU (A002): Spool valve fault, valve 4 (Y018)

Issue description

Floating position has been set manually or deflected manually without result. This often triggers when the operator manually forces the spool valve into the float position rather than using the electronic controls.

Applies to these machines

  • 411 Vario COM III
  • 412 Vario COM III
  • 413 Vario COM III
  • 414 Vario COM III
  • 415 Vario COM III

  • 916 Vario
  • 920 Vario
  • 924 Vario
  • 926 Vario
  • 930 Vario

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the operator physically forced the valve into the float position manually

  2. Check fuses F040 and F041, and circuit board A013 for CAN bus power supply

  3. Verify supply voltage at the Y018 valve connector is between 8V and 18V

  4. Check control pressure at measuring point M5 and inspect the diaphragm accumulator

  5. Inspect hydraulic oil for contamination that could cause the main piston to jam

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Retest

Clear the A.1.4C code using the tractor's terminal or FENDIAS diagnostic tool. If the code was triggered by a manual override, it may not return.

  2. Access the Valve Block

If the valve is physically jammed or unresponsive, access the Y018 valve. It is the 4th auxiliary control valve (color-coded green).

  3. Remove Obstructions

On models like the 900 Vario, the valve is located on the underside of the central control block. To access it, unscrew the right step and pull the right auxiliary tank outwards.

  4. Inspect/Replace the Valve

Remove the Y018 spool valve. Inspect it for mechanical binding or severe oil contamination. If the internal position sensor or magnet output stage has failed, the entire spool valve section must be replaced.

  5. EOL Programming

If a new auxiliary control valve is installed, it must be programmed for 'position 4' using the Fendt EOL (End of Line) diagnostic software so the ECU recognizes its location on the valve block.
