A.1.53

Fendt A.1.53 – OVERALL SYSTEM / TRACTOR (Code 0000): A058 - Top Dock (Autoguide) bus fault

Issue description

There is no signal being transmitted from the Top Dock GPS receiver (component A058) to the tractor's transmission bus, most commonly caused by a failure in the Top Dock's voltage supply or a physical break in the CAN bus lines.

Applies to these machines

  • 411 Vario COM III
  • 412 Vario COM III
  • 413 Vario COM III
  • 414 Vario COM III
  • 415 Vario COM III
  • 712 Vario COM III
  • 714 Vario COM III
  • 716 Vario COM III
  • 718 Vario COM III
  • 818 Vario COM III
  • 820 Vario COM III
  • FENDT 300 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 400 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 700 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 800 Vario (COM III)
  • FENDT 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Locate the A058 Top Dock in the cab roof compartment (roof hatch)

  2. Use a multimeter to verify that the Top Dock is receiving proper operating voltage and has a solid ground connection

  3. Inspect the CAN bus harness and separation point connectors (e.g., X1633) between the cab roof and the transmission bus for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins

  4. Verify component history (faults can occur if the Top Dock was recently transferred, inactive for a long period, or if the internal DMU was recently replaced)

  5. Use the FENDIAS or SERDIA service diagnostics program to read the fault log and check for active CAN communication

Repair steps

  1. Access the Receiver

Safely access the cab roof compartment and remove the paneling to expose the A058 Top Dock unit.

  2. Test and Repair Wiring

Disconnect the Top Dock interface cable. Test the CAN_H and CAN_L lines for continuity back to the transmission bus. Repair any broken wires or replace the CAN interface cable if damaged.

  3. Software Update / Reprogramming

If the wiring and voltage are intact, connect the Auto-Guide Service Tool (laptop) or use the in-cab A059 Auto-Guide terminal to attempt a software update or EOL (End of Line) programming on the Top Dock.

  4. Replace the Unit

If the Top Dock remains unresponsive to EOL programming and has verified voltage, the internal GPS ECU or DMU has failed. Replace the A058 Top Dock unit.

  5. Calibrate

After replacing the Top Dock, you must perform EOL programming and recalibrate the Auto-Guide steering system to pair the new receiver with the tractor.

Parts you might need
