Fendt A.1.62 – Steering Controller ECU / Auto-Guide System: Fault only possible in calibration mode
Issue description
During the steering system calibration process, the system expected the steering to be moved to the left, but a steering movement to the right was detected instead. This indicates a mismatch between the expected physical movement and the signal being sent by the steering angle sensor.

Check the cause
Check the sideways freedom of movement of the front wheels to ensure there is no mechanical binding, heavy mud, or physical obstruction preventing the wheels from turning freely to the left.
Verify that the steering angle sensor on the front axle is securely mounted and that the linkage is not bent or installed backwards.
Ensure the sensor wiring harness is not pinched, damaged, or wired in reverse, which could cause the ECU to read a right turn when the wheels are turning left.
Repair steps
Park the tractor
Safely park the tractor on a flat, level surface where the wheels have full freedom to turn lock-to-lock.
Inspect front axle and steering cylinders
Inspect the front axle and steering cylinders for any mechanical restrictions. Clear any debris.
Repeat the calibration
Initiate the steering calibration mode again.
Follow on-screen prompts
Pay close attention to the on-screen prompts. When the system requests the steering to be moved to the left, ensure you are turning the wheel in the correct direction.
Replace steering angle sensor
If the calibration fails again with the same code, the steering angle sensor is likely outputting an inverted or erratic signal and must be replaced.
Clear codes and recalibrate
After replacing the sensor, clear the fault codes and perform the steering calibration procedure from the beginning.
