A.1.6D

Fendt A.1.6D – A057 - ECU, steering controller (Auto-Guide): Actuator position greater than reference position

Issue description

This code indicates a mechanical fault on the steering actuator or the position sensor within the Auto-Guide steering valve block. The system detects that the physical position of the steering actuator has exceeded its commanded reference position.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring of the position sensor in the steering valve for broken wires or short circuits.

  2. Verify the electrical supply line to the steering valve (must be stable between 10V and 32V).

  3. Check the transmission CAN bus for faults, verifying a total resistance of 60 Ohms and checking CAN High/CAN Low voltage levels.

  4. Check if the steering actuator is physically binding and unable to reach neutral during operation or run-up.

Repair steps

  1. Access the Valve Block

Safely lift and support the tractor, then remove the right rear wheel and the side access panel to access the Y087 steering valve block located on the right side of the transmission.

  2. Inspect and Repair Wiring

Check the electrical connections at the Y087 valve block. If the wiring to the position sensor is damaged, repair the harness.

  3. Replace the Component

If the wiring is intact, the mechanical fault lies within the actuator or sensor itself. Replace the steering head (if the sensor/head is available separately for your specific valve revision) or replace the entire Y087 steering valve block.

  4. Reassembly

Reinstall the steering valve block, reconnect all hydraulic and electrical lines, and reinstall the access panel and right rear wheel.

  5. Calibration

After replacing the steering head or the Y087 valve block, the steering valve must be calibrated. Enter calibration mode in the terminal and run Calibration code '2403'. Ensure the front wheels have sideways freedom of movement during this process.
