A.1.A1

Fendt A.1.A1 – E-box (A002 - ECU, enhanced control): E-box — EEPROM fault while loading

Issue description

This indicates a memory read error within the control unit. The ECU is unable to load its stored set values or enhanced control parameters from its internal EEPROM memory during startup or operation. Consequences can result in restricted operating possibilities, loss of enhanced features, or auxiliary control valves moving to the neutral position and locking.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the voltage supply to the A002 E-box by checking the CAN-Bus voltage supply on fuse board A013 (specifically fuses F040 and F041).

  2. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool and attempt to perform an End-of-Line (EOL) programming or reload the data record.

  3. Check the hardware version to determine if the tractor has an older E-box with a physical EPROM chip (requires physical replacement) or a newer flash-programmable unit.

  4. Assess module status: if the E-box cannot be reflashed, or if the EEPROM fault immediately returns after a successful flash, the internal memory is permanently corrupted or physically damaged.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Locate the E-box

Access the electronics box area (typically located in the right-hand side console/cab area, depending on the specific Vario model).

  3. Remove the Defective Module

Carefully disconnect the multi-pin wiring harnesses from the A002 E-box. Unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.

  4. Install the Replacement/Repaired Module

Mount the new or remanufactured E-box and securely reconnect all wiring harnesses.

  5. Restore Power

    Reconnect the tractor's battery.

  6. End-of-Line (EOL) Programming

Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic system and perform EOL programming to register the module to the tractor's CAN bus, configure the connected valves, and calibrate the crossgate lever/joystick (Calibration code "1001").
