A.1.B0

Fendt A.1.B0 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control (E-box) or A100 - MFA (Multifunction Armrest): A034 - Driving switch, CAN bus; Crossgate lever - Not calibrated

Issue description

The crossgate lever (also referred to as the valve joystick or A034/A003 driving switch) has lost its calibration data or has not been calibrated. The system cannot verify the lever's center 'zero' position or its maximum travel limits on the X and Y axes, preventing the tractor's hydraulic spool valves from being operated.

Applies to these machines

  • 411 Vario COM III
  • 412 Vario COM III
  • 413 Vario COM III
  • 414 Vario COM III
  • 415 Vario COM III
  • 712 Vario COM III
  • 714 Vario COM III
  • 716 Vario COM III
  • 718 Vario COM III
  • 818 Vario COM III

Check the cause

  1. Check for accompanying fault codes (A.1.B1, A.1.B2, A.1.B3, or A.1.B4). If present, this indicates a hardware failure (defective potentiometer, foil button failure, or broken CAN bus wiring) rather than a simple calibration issue.

  2. Inspect the joystick physically to ensure the crossgate lever moves freely without binding and springs back to the exact center position.

  3. Check CAN bus connections by verifying the wiring harness and connectors between the A034 joystick and the A002/A100 ECU for corrosion or loose pins.

Repair steps

  1. Turn on ignition

    Turn on the tractor ignition.

  2. Access diagnostics menu

Access the tractor diagnostics menu via the Variotronic terminal.

  3. Enter calibration code

Navigate to the calibration screen and enter Calibration Code "1001" (Crossgate lever calibration).

  4. Follow on-screen prompts

Follow the on-screen prompts. You will be required to move the crossgate lever fully through its X-axis (left/right) and Y-axis (forward/backward) limits, and then allow it to return to the neutral center position.

  5. Save calibration data

    Save the calibration data.

  6. Test hydraulic spool valves

Cycle the key and test the hydraulic spool valves for proper operation.

  7. Replace or remanufacture lever if calibration fails

If the calibration fails (e.g., the terminal throws calibration fault codes F01, F02, or F08 indicating faulty values or timeouts), the internal potentiometers or the CAN board inside the joystick are defective. The crossgate lever must be replaced or sent out for remanufacture. After installing a new lever, you must run Calibration Code 1001 again.
