A.1.B1

Fendt A.1.B1 – A034 or A003: Crossgate lever X-axis signal fault

Issue description

The system detects that the signal from the X-axis of the crossgate lever (the joystick used to control hydraulic functions) is faulty, missing, or out of calibration. As a safety measure, the hydraulic spool valves cannot be operated while this code is active.

Check the cause

  1. Check the crossgate lever for physical damage, sticking buttons, or debris that might prevent the joystick from returning to its exact center/rest position.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the A034/A003 joystick module. Refer to the "Spool valves 1" circuit diagram in the Fendt manual to check for continuity and shorts.

  3. Verify the power supply to the CAN bus. Check the relevant fuses on circuit board A013 (e.g., fuses F040, F041, or F047 depending on the model).

  4. Use the FENDIAS diagnostic program to monitor the live X-axis and Y-axis signals from the A034 drive switch to see if the sensor is completely dead or just drifting out of spec.

Repair steps

  1. Calibrate the Crossgate Lever

Before replacing any parts, attempt to recalibrate the joystick. Enter Calibration code "1001" via the tractor's terminal/dashboard. Follow the on-screen prompts to register the center, maximum X, and maximum Y positions.

  2. Clear Codes and Test

Cycle the ignition OFF then ON. Test the hydraulic spool valves. If the fault clears and operation returns, the issue was merely a calibration drift.

  3. EOL Programming

If calibration fails or the code immediately returns, connect FENDIAS and run a new End-of-Line (EOL) programming sequence for the A034 joystick module to rule out software/memory corruption.

  4. Replace the Component

If the wiring is intact, power is present, and both calibration and EOL programming fail, the internal incremental encoder or circuit board inside the crossgate lever has failed. The joystick assembly must be replaced.

  5. Post-Repair Calibration

After installing a new crossgate lever, you must perform EOL programming and run Calibration code 1001 again for the tractor to recognize the new component.
