A.1.B2

Fendt A.1.B2 – Spool Valves Operation (Electrical Valves): A003, A034 - Crossgate lever — Y-axis signal fault.

Issue description

The system has detected a missing, out-of-range, or implausible signal from the Y-axis potentiometer/sensor inside the crossgate lever. The tractor's computer cannot accurately determine the physical position of the lever on the Y-axis, triggering a safety lockout that prevents the hydraulic spool valves from being operated.

Check the cause

  1. Use the Fendt Variotronic Ti terminal (Diagnostics Menu 1) or FENDIAS diagnostic software to monitor the 'IDEAL' target values from the A034 joystick. Check if the Y-axis registers any signal movement when the lever is actuated.

  2. Attempt to recalibrate the crossgate lever using calibration code '1001'. If the lever fails to calibrate, a hard electrical fault is present.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the crossgate lever (A003/A034) and the A002 ECU / A004 Control console. Look for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins in the armrest harness.

  4. Verify the power supply to the joystick. Check the fuses on fuse board A013 (e.g., F047 for joystick CAN power) and verify that the 8.5V supply and CAN bus communication lines are intact.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Disassemble armrest console

Disassemble the right-hand armrest/control console to access the mounting hardware for the crossgate lever (A003/A034).

  3. Disconnect electrical harness

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the bottom of the crossgate lever.

  4. Remove faulty unit

Remove the retaining screws securing the crossgate lever assembly to the console and remove the faulty unit.

  5. Install replacement lever

Install the replacement crossgate lever and secure it with the mounting screws.

  6. Reassemble console

Reconnect the electrical harness and reassemble the armrest console.

  7. Reconnect battery

Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition on.

  8. Calibrate crossgate lever

You must perform End-Of-Line (EOL) programming or calibrate the new crossgate lever using Calibration code '1001'. The ECU must learn the new zero/rest positions of the X and Y axes, otherwise, the valves will remain locked out.

  9. Clear fault code and test

Clear the stored A.1.B2 fault code and test the hydraulic spool valves for proper operation.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Crossgate lever / Multifunction Joystick / Drive mode switch (Component A003 / A034)

    G260.970.160.020

Exact part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific tractor model, generation, and trim level. Always verify the part number against the tractor's specific chassis number. The new part requires calibration (Code 1001) immediately after installation.
