Fendt A.1.C1 – A004 Control Console: A004 - Automatic (switching from control console to armrest) — Key fault

Hardware or signal failure with the Automatic mode button (or the crossgate lever/joystick switchover button).    Ensure there are no broader CAN bus communication errors (such as A.1.C6 'Control console CAN-bus fault') between the A004 console and A002 ECU.

   Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic software to monitor the live state of the switch, checking if it registers as permanently pressed (internal short) or completely unresponsive (open circuit or failed contact).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical damage during disassembly.

   Access the Console

   Carefully remove the outer housing of the multifunction armrest to access the A004 control console circuit board and switch matrix.

   Clean the Contacts

   If the button is sticking, use an electronic contact cleaner to remove dust, grease, or debris from the switch mechanism.

   Test the Switch

   Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the automatic mode button when pressed and released.

   If the switch itself has failed internally, send the A004 module to an agricultural electronics repair specialist (who can solder a new microswitch onto the board) or replace the entire A004 Control Console assembly.

   Reassembly and Clearing Codes

   Reinstall the A004 console, reconnect the battery, and turn on the ignition. Use the tractor's terminal or FENDIAS software to clear the A.1.C1 fault code from the memory. Test the automatic mode button to ensure functionality is restored.
