Fendt A.1.C5 – A004 Control Console: Switching function — Key fault (Crossgate lever/joystick switchover button faulty)

The system has detected an electrical or mechanical 'key fault' (button fault) with the switchover button on the joystick. It is not possible to switch between crossgate lever operation and joystick operation. Spool valve operation is restricted or locked in its current state.

   Check the crossgate lever/joystick switchover button for physical damage, sticking, or dirt ingress

   Verify the wiring harness connecting the joystick to the A004 Control Console

   Ensure there are no accompanying CAN-bus communication errors (such as A.1.C6 or A.1.C0) indicating a broader network issue

   Use the tractor terminal to call up the active fault and confirm if it changes from active to stored when the button is manipulated

   Isolate the Fault

   Determine if the issue is the physical plastic button cap sticking or the internal microswitch failing.

   Button Replacement (if applicable)

   If the plastic button is worn, cracked, or sticking, carefully pry the old button cap from the joystick housing. Clean the recess of any dirt or debris. Snap the new replacement button into place.

   Switch Replacement

   If the internal switch has failed, disassemble the joystick handle carefully. Desolder the faulty microswitch connections and solder the new switch into the joystick circuit board.

   Reassembly & Testing

   Reassemble the joystick housing. Turn on the tractor and test the switchover function between the crossgate lever and joystick.

   Clear Fault Codes

   Access the tractor's terminal memory to confirm, call up, and delete the stored A.1.C5 fault code. Note that canceling an active fault message on the screen does not remove it from the ECU's memory; it must be cleared via the diagnostic menu.
