A.1.CB

Fendt A.1.CB – A034 - Joystick (Drive switch) / A002 - ECU, Enhanced Control (E-Box): CAN joystick not available (CAN bus fault)

Issue description

The tractor's electronic control system has lost CAN bus communication with the main driving joystick (A034). When this fault is active, the system defaults to an emergency operating mode, and the primary consequence is that the auxiliary hydraulic valves cannot be operated.

Check the cause

  1. Check fuse F047 on circuit board A013, which supplies power to the joystick's CAN bus

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the A034 Joystick and the A002 Enhanced Control ECU (E-Box) for line discontinuities, pinched wires in the armrest, or loose/corroded pins

  3. Check for related fault codes, specifically A.1.CC, which indicates a faulty CAN connection between the E-Box and the CAN joystick

  4. Use the FENDIAS dealer diagnostic tool to check the A034 drive switch data transfer and verify if the module is visible on the network

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Fuse Replacement

If fuse F047 on board A013 is blown, replace it. Reconnect power and test. If the fuse blows immediately, trace the joystick harness for a short to ground.

  3. Harness Repair

If the wiring between the armrest joystick (A034) and the ECU (A002) is damaged, repair the broken wires or replace the damaged section of the harness.

  4. Component Repair/Replacement

If the wiring and power supply are intact but communication is still dead, the A034 joystick has likely suffered an internal electronic failure. Remove the defective joystick and either install a replacement OEM joystick or send the unit to a specialized agricultural mechatronics repair service.

  5. EOL Programming

After resolving the communication issue or replacing the joystick, run new EOL (End of Line) programming using the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to re-initialize the joystick on the tractor's CAN network.
