A.1.D7

Fendt A.1.D7 – Enhanced Control Module (A002) or Basic Control Unit (A050): Hydraulic oil level indicator switch/sensor fault

Issue description

The system has detected a 'Break in cable or sensor disconnected' or a 'Sensor faulty, signal fault' at the S036/B084 Hydraulic oil level indicator switch/sensor. The hydraulic oil fill level is no longer being monitored.

Applies to these machines

  • 411 Vario COM III
  • 412 Vario COM III
  • 413 Vario COM III
  • 414 Vario COM III
  • 415 Vario COM III
  • 712 Vario COM III
  • 714 Vario COM III
  • 716 Vario COM III
  • 718 Vario COM III
  • 818 Vario COM III
  • 820 Vario COM III
  • Farmer 400 Vario series
  • Favorit 700 and 900 Vario series
  • Fendt 300, 400, 700, 800, and 900 Vario series (including COM III and S4 generations)

Check the cause

  1. Manual Fluid Check: Physically check the hydraulic oil level using the sight glass or dipstick to ensure the tank is not dangerously low or empty.

  2. Visual Wiring Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness leading to the S036/B084 sensor on the hydraulic tank. Look for obvious breaks, chafing, or a disconnected plug, which is the primary cause listed in the OEM fault tables.

  3. Connector Check: Disconnect the sensor plug and check for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins.

  4. Clear the Code: Fendt fault codes are stored and must be cleared individually. Press the confirmation button on the multiple display/terminal to clear the code. If the code immediately returns upon startup, the sensor or wiring is actively failing.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground to relieve system pressure, and turn off the engine.

  2. Locate the Sensor

Locate the S036 hydraulic oil level switch on the hydraulic reservoir tank.

  3. Drain/Prep

Depending on the sensor's mounting height on the tank, you may need to drain the hydraulic oil below the level of the sensor port to prevent fluid loss, or have a catch pan and plug ready for a quick swap.

  4. Remove the Faulty Sensor

Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. Unscrew the S036 switch from the hydraulic tank housing.

  5. Install the New Sensor

Thread the new OEM hydraulic oil level switch into the port. Tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque to ensure a proper seal without damaging the plastic or brass threads.

  6. Reconnect and Refill

Reconnect the electrical harness. Top up the hydraulic oil with the approved fluid (e.g., Permatran 821XL Plus) to the correct level.

  7. System Reset

Turn on the tractor ignition. Navigate to the fault code menu on the Variotronic Ti / multiple display. Call up the stored A.1.D7 code and press the confirmation key to delete it from the memory. Verify that the warning tone and display do not return.
