Fendt A.1.D7 – Enhanced Control Unit (ECU): Break in cable or sensor disconnected

The control unit has detected an open circuit in the signal line for the hydraulic oil level sensor (S036). Because the system cannot read the sensor, the hydraulic oil level is no longer being monitored. The system will log this fault and suspend monitoring to prevent false readings, but it generally allows the tractor to continue driving.

   Locate the S036 hydraulic oil level sensor on the hydraulic oil tank and check if the sensor is physically unplugged.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading from the S036 sensor back to the ECU (referencing the 'Spool valves 1' circuit diagram) for chafed wires, rodent damage, or a clean break in the cable.

   Disconnect the sensor and inspect the electrical connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.

   Use a multimeter to test the sensor itself for continuity. If the sensor has an internal break (failed open), it will mimic a broken cable.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the key.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the hydraulic oil tank and the S036 level sensor.

   Repair Wiring

   If a broken wire was found during diagnostics, splice and repair the wire using weather-resistant heat-shrink connectors.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact but the sensor failed the continuity test, clean the area around the sensor, unscrew/remove the faulty S036 sensor, install the new OEM hydraulic oil level sensor and tighten to factory specifications, and reconnect the electrical harness ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Verify Fluid Levels

   Check the hydraulic oil level manually to ensure the tank is properly filled (using Fendt Super Hyd, Extra Hyd 68, or STOU SAE 10W-40 depending on your specific model's manual).

   Clear Codes

   Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's terminal or the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to clear the A.1.D7 fault code. Verify that the code does not return.
