FiatAgri 5: Stability Issue After Initial Period
Issue description
The system experiences a stability issue after an initial period of operation. Research indicates this is likely not a standard electronic fault code, but rather a mechanical or hydraulic symptom. It typically points to physical instability (such as center of gravity shifts or improper hitching) or hydraulic system failures, such as debris blocking valves and causing the lift to fail or behave erratically after a period of work.

Check the cause
Perform a visual mechanical inspection of the chassis, axles, steering linkage, hitch points, and drawbars for damage, wear, or loose components (mechanical stability cause)
Check tire pressures, as uneven pressure can affect physical stability (mechanical stability cause)
Check hydraulic fluid level and inspect its condition for contamination or degradation (hydraulic failure cause)
Inspect the hydraulic filter for clogs or heavy contamination
Test the three-point hitch operation through its full range of motion, looking for slow operation or failure to hold position (on a Fiat 100-90, check the three-point hitch lock switch or loader valve adjustments)
Check hydraulic control levers and valves for smooth operation and ensure they are not sticking
Repair steps
Isolate the hydraulic system
Park the tractor on a level surface and lower all implements to the ground to safely relieve system pressure.
Access the hydraulic assembly
Locate and access the hydraulic assembly valve. On models like the Fiat 640, this may require a specific socket size (e.g., 27mm).
Clean the hydraulic system
Remove and inspect the hydraulic valve assembly for debris or metal shavings. Thoroughly clean the valve and housing using an appropriate solvent like diesel. Replace the hydraulic filter if it is clogged or has been in service for a long time.
Reassemble and test
Carefully reassemble the components, replacing any disturbed seals or O-rings. Start the tractor, test hydraulic functions, and cycle the system to purge air. If lift arms are stuck, manually forcing them down can sometimes help reset the system after cleaning.
Parts you might need
(4)Hydraulic Oil
Refer to the specific tractor's operator or service manual for the correct type and viscosity
Hydraulic Filter
Model-specific part number required
Hydraulic Valve Assembly
Replace only if damaged and cannot be repaired by cleaning
Seals and O-Rings
Replace any seals disturbed during the repair process to prevent leaks
