Iveco 013F – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Incorrect signal in coolant pressure circuit
Issue description
The raw voltage measured by the coolant pressure sensor is outside the expected operating range. The system flags this when it detects a defective sensor, a damp/corroded electrical connector, or a wiring short circuit to an external source.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- Iveco Daily
- Iveco EuroCargo
- Iveco Stralis
- Iveco Trakker
Check the cause
Disconnect the plug from the coolant pressure sensor and check if it is damp or wet inside (moisture is a known failure point)
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the sensor for any open circuits, chafing, or short circuits to ground or power
Use a diagnostic tool to read the raw voltage/pressure value (AirC_pAnaClnt) from the ECM to confirm if the signal is stuck low, stuck high, or erratic
Repair steps
Turn off the ignition and allow the engine to cool completely to safely relieve pressure in the cooling system.
Locate the coolant pressure sensor.
It is typically threaded directly into the coolant expansion/header tank (Note: On some coachbuilt motorhomes or vans, this area can be very tight against the bulkhead/dashboard).
Disconnect the electrical plug from the sensor.
If the plug is wet, dry the harness connector thoroughly. Some technician notes suggest removing the yellow seal from the connector if it has been compromised, but replacing the sensor is the primary fix.
Carefully unscrew the old sensor.
Caution: The sensor can become seized and very tight. Support the plastic header tank while turning to ensure you do not crack the tank housing.
Thread the new OEM coolant pressure sensor into the tank and tighten it securely.
Reconnect the electrical harness plug.
Top up the engine coolant if any was lost during the swap, and replace the header tank cap.
Connect a diagnostic tool to the OBD/ST14D port and clear the 013F fault code from the EDC.
