Iveco 015C – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Incorrect fuel injection time for cylinder 1 injector
Issue description
The engine management system has detected that the timing of the fuel delivery for the first cylinder is operating outside of the expected parameters. This condition can lead to poor air-fuel mixture combustion, rough idling, misfires, and increased toxic emissions.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- Iveco Stralis
- Iveco Tector
- Iveco EuroStar
- Iveco EuroTech
- Cursor 10
- Cursor 13
- F3A
- F3B
Check the cause
Check for accompanying electrical circuit codes (such as 0161, 0168, or 0169) which indicate a wiring failure rather than a mechanical injector failure.
Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at the cylinder 1 injector for loose connections, shorts to earth, or corrosion.
Test the cylinder 1 injector solenoid using a multimeter to rule out a faulty solenoid causing misfires.
Check if the injector is blocked or dirty, which can restrict fuel delivery and alter effective injection time. Clean if necessary.
Repair steps
Access the Injectors
Remove the cylinder head cover to gain access to the fuel injectors and valve train.
Remove the Faulty Injector
Disconnect the electrical connections. Using the specialized Iveco extractor tool (OEM tool 99342149 or 99390772), carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head.
Clean the Injector Seat
Use the appropriate tool to remove any carbon residues left in the groove of the cylinder head.
Inspect/Replace the Injector Cup
If the injector sleeve/cup is damaged, screw the extractor into the case, screw down the nut, and pull the case out of the cylinder head.
Install the New Injector
Seat the new injector into cylinder 1.
Calibrate the System
Reassemble the valvetrain components. You must perform a valve and injector unit calibration (adjusting the camshaft timing and valve clearances) to ensure the new injector operates at the correct mechanical timing.
Clear Codes
Clear the 015C fault code from the ECU and test-run the engine to verify the repair.
