Iveco 017F – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC: Controller: incorrect recording or no recording of IMA-injector codes
Issue description
Fault code 017F triggers when the engine computer loses the IMA (Injector Menge Abgleichung) codes, detects an invalid code format, or when new injectors are installed without programming their new codes into the system.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- Iveco Daily
- Iveco Stralis
Check the cause
Verify recent service history to see if the vehicle recently had its fuel injectors replaced, or if the Engine ECU was recently replaced, flashed, or reset.
Physically inspect the fuel injectors on the engine and write down the IMA codes printed on the top or side of the magnetic solenoid of each injector.
Connect a heavy-duty or Iveco-compatible diagnostic scan tool (e.g., TEXA, Bosch KTS, or Iveco EASY) and read the current injector codes stored in the ECU's memory.
Compare the codes stored in the ECU against the physical codes you wrote down. If they are blank, default to zeros, or do not match the physical injectors, the ECU requires recoding.
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Turn the ignition to the ON position (engine OFF) and connect your diagnostic scanner to the OBD/diagnostic port.
Access the ECU
Select the specific vehicle model and engine type, then enter the Engine Control Module (EDC) menu.
Navigate to Injector Coding
Go to the 'Adaptation', 'Component Replacement', or 'Injector Coding / IMA Input' section.
Input the Codes
Carefully enter the exact alphanumeric IMA code for each cylinder as printed on the corresponding injector. Note: Ensure you are assigning the correct code to the correct cylinder firing order.
Save and Exit
Save the changes to the ECU. Exit the programming menu.
Clear Faults
Navigate to the DTC menu and clear the 017F fault code.
Adaptation Drive
Turn the ignition off, wait 30 seconds, and start the engine. Perform a test drive to allow the ECU to adapt to the new correction values and verify smooth running.
