Iveco 019E – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC (Electronic Diesel Control): Limiting the torque caused by the failure of systems of ICE
Issue description
A generic derate or inducement code indicating that the engine control system has intentionally reduced the engine's power and torque output. This happens either to protect the engine from mechanical damage or to comply with legal emissions limits because another primary fault is currently active in the system.

Check the cause
Scan for primary codes using a heavy-duty diagnostic scanner (such as TEXA, Jaltest, or Iveco EASY) to read all active and stored codes in the EDC
Check emissions systems (Hi-SCR) for issues such as low AdBlue/DEF tank level, DEF contamination, or active NOx sensor and DPF faults
Check engine systems for other active codes related to fuel injectors, turbocharger performance, or intake air sensors
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Plug your diagnostic interface into the vehicle and initiate self-diagnosis of the EDC.
Identify the Root Cause
Look at the errors page. You will see 019E alongside one or more primary fault codes (e.g., lack of AdBlue additive, faulty injector circuit).
Perform the Physical Repair
Fix the underlying issue. For example, if the derate was caused by an emissions fault, top up the AdBlue tank or replace the faulty NOx sensor.
Run the Inducement Procedure
If the derate was caused by an emissions violation, use your diagnostic scanner to run the specific 'Inducement' reset procedure to tell the ECU that the emissions system is functioning again.
Verify Status Change
After the procedure, verify that the 019E code has changed from 'Active' to 'Stored' or 'Inactive'.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the EDC memory and test drive the vehicle to ensure the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) remains off and full torque is restored.
