Iveco 01EB – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC: Atmospheric (absolute) air pressure sensor circuit fault

The Engine Control Unit has detected an electrical malfunction or an implausible reading from the atmospheric pressure sensor. This typically indicates a short circuit to the positive connection line, a short to earth, an open circuit, or a signal that is not plausible when compared to reference pressures.

   Connect a diagnostic tool and verify live data for the atmospheric pressure reading (should be approx. 100-101 kPa at sea level).

   Perform a plausibility check by comparing the atmospheric pressure reading to the MAP or boost pressure sensor with the engine off (they should be nearly identical).

   Verify main battery voltage and check the main power and ground pins at the EDC module for voltage drops.

   Inspect ECU Connectors

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the main wiring harness connectors from the EDC module. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or physical damage, as poor connections at the ECU can simulate an internal sensor failure.

   Clean and Reconnect

   Clean any oxidized pins with contact cleaner, ensure the pins are tight, and securely reconnect the harness.

   Evaluate the Sensor Location

   On the vast majority of Iveco EDC systems, the atmospheric pressure sensor is built directly into the Engine Control Unit (EDC) and is not an external component.

   Replace the ECU

   If the wiring and power supplies to the EDC are perfectly intact, but the 01EB fault remains active and the live pressure reading is still out of range, the internal sensor has failed and you must replace the Engine Control Unit.

   Clear Codes

   After replacing the ECU (or repairing a connector issue), turn the key on and use your diagnostic tool or the manual blink-code button procedure to clear the stored fault codes from the memory.
