Iveco 01F1 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Sensor Circuit Malfunction debris particulate filter

The control module is detecting an electrical fault, out-of-range signal, or open/short circuit from the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor, which monitors the exhaust gas backpressure before and after the DPF.

   Inspect the rubber/silicone pressure hoses connecting the sensor to the DPF for melting, cracking, or blockages caused by soot buildup.

   Check the sensor's 3-pin electrical connector and wiring harness for heat damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

   Verify the sensor is receiving its standard 5V reference supply from the ECU.

   Use an OBD diagnostic tool to check the actual DPF soot accumulation (in grams). A severely blocked DPF can cause excessive backpressure that damages the sensor or blows the hoses.

   Preparation

   Secure the vehicle, open the hood, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove the top engine cover and carefully open any heat protection sleeves. The sensor is typically mounted on a bracket near the DPF assembly or firewall.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Withdraw the security clip on the sensor's electrical plug and disconnect the harness.

   Mark the Hoses

   Mark the position of the two pressure hoses (upstream and downstream) so you do not accidentally switch them during reinstallation.

   Remove the Sensor

   Unclip or loosen the hose retention clamps and carefully pull the sensor off both hoses. Unscrew the mounting fastener (usually a Torx screw) holding the sensor to its bracket.

   Install the New Sensor

   Mount the new sensor and secure the Torx screw. Firmly reconnect both hoses in their correct orientation and secure the retention clamps.

   Reconnect

   Plug in the electrical connector and ensure it clicks into place. Close the heat protection sleeve and reinstall the engine cover.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, connect a diagnostic scan tool, and clear the 01F1 fault code from the ECU memory. Start the engine and test drive to ensure the Engine Management Light remains off.
