01F3

Iveco 01F3 – Engine ECU: Soot filter clogged sensor circuit fault

Issue description

A malfunction in the electrical circuit of the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) differential pressure sensor, which prevents the engine control unit from monitoring filter health and initiating active DPF regeneration cycles.

Applies to these machines

  • Iveco Daily
  • Iveco EuroCargo
  • Iveco Stralis
  • Iveco Trakker

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the electrical circuit of the DPF pressure sensor for open circuits, short circuits to ground, or damaged connectors.

  2. Check the silicon hoses/tubes connecting the sensor to the DPF for melting, cracking, leaks, or blockages caused by soot/debris.

  3. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks before or near the DPF pressure sensor, which can skew pressure readings.

  4. Use a manual manometer to bypass the OBD system and obtain physical pressure readings to confirm if the sensor is reading incorrectly or if the DPF is genuinely blocked.

  5. Ensure the DPF itself is not suffering from excessive ash accumulation, which can cause secondary pressure faults.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Sensor

Find the DPF differential pressure sensor, which is typically mounted in the engine compartment (away from extreme exhaust heat) and connected to the DPF via rubber/silicon hoses.

  2. Repair Wiring/Hoses

If the diagnostic checks revealed melted hoses (a common issue near the DPF box) or damaged wiring, replace the affected hoses or repair the harness.

  3. Replace the Sensor

If the wiring and hoses are intact, the sensor itself has likely failed internally. Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the hose clamps, and swap in a new OEM differential pressure sensor.

  4. Clear Fault Codes

Use a diagnostic scanner (such as Iveco EASY) to clear the 01F3 fault code from the Engine ECU.

  5. Perform Regeneration

Initiate a forced DPF regeneration via the diagnostic tool, or take the vehicle for a highway test drive to allow the system to perform an active regeneration and verify the repair.
