Iveco 01FA – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC (Electronic Diesel Control): Fault path for maximum number of locked regenerations

The engine has requested or attempted too many DPF regenerations, indicating that the particulate filter is likely severely blocked and standard regeneration is no longer effective or permitted.

   Read failure memory for other active EDC errors (e.g., 1F5 - High signal sensor circuit debris particulate filter) and resolve them first

   Clear secondary codes (like 1F5) with the engine OFF; note that DPF codes 1F9, 1FA, or 3FA will remain active

   Access the engine flight recorder and save the data (FR1, FR2, etc.) for DPF Helpdesk authorization if required by dealer protocol

   Perform a visual and physical inspection of the particulate filter for severe blockage or ash loading

   Replace the DPF

   Remove the severely blocked Diesel Particulate Filter and install the replacement unit.

   Replace the Engine Oil

   Replace the engine oil and filter. Excessive regeneration attempts cause unburnt diesel fuel to wash past the piston rings, severely diluting and degrading the engine oil. (Dealers are instructed to take a 50ml minimum oil sample for warranty compliance).

   Reset ECU Counters

   Connect your diagnostic tool and navigate to the EDC/Engine module. Run the specific function for 'DPF Replacement' to reset the ash/soot counters and unlock the regeneration strategy.

   Clear Fault Codes

   Clear the 01FA / 1FA fault code from the EDC memory.

   Test Drive

   Perform a test drive to ensure exhaust pressure sensors read within normal parameters and no forced regeneration is immediately requested.
