Iveco 1.00E+07 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Controller: type 2 voltage for out-of-range sensor supply

Indicates a voltage irregularity, typically a short circuit, on the 5-volt reference circuit (Type 2) that supplies power to a specific bank of engine sensors. This causes the engine to crank but not start, or to shut down entirely.

   Check for water ingress in all sensor connectors on the engine harness, especially after an engine wash or heavy rain.

   Isolate the 5V reference circuit (Type 2) since multiple sensors share this power supply and a single shorted sensor can pull the entire circuit down.

   Perform the disconnect test on the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor to see if the 01E7 code changes from Active to Inactive.

   Systematically disconnect other 3-wire sensors (MAP sensor, oil pressure sensor, etc.) one by one if the fuel pressure sensor is not the cause.

   Test the wiring harness between the ECU and the sensors for a short to ground if all sensors are unplugged and the code remains.

   Verify fault code

   Connect a diagnostic scan tool and verify that the 01E7 fault is currently active.

   Turn ignition off

   Turn the ignition off.

   Disconnect sensor

   Locate the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor on the common rail and disconnect its electrical plug.

   Re-check fault codes

   Turn the ignition back on and re-check the fault codes. If 01E7 is now inactive (and a new code for 'Fuel Pressure Sensor Open Circuit' appears), the sensor is internally shorted.

   Remove faulty sensor

   Remove the faulty fuel pressure sensor from the fuel rail. (Note: Ensure the fuel system is depressurized and clean the area thoroughly to prevent debris from entering the high-pressure fuel rail).

   Install new sensor

   Install the new OEM fuel pressure sensor and torque it to the manufacturer's specification.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the wiring harness.

   Clear fault codes

   Clear the fault codes using the diagnostic tool.

   Verify repair

   Prime the fuel system, start the engine, and verify that the vehicle runs normally without the 01E7 code returning.

    Repair harness or replace ECU

    If the sensor was not the cause: Repair the chafed/melted wiring harness causing the short to ground, or, in rare cases, replace the Bosch EDC16C39 ECU if the internal voltage regulator is permanently burned out.
