Iveco 605 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Oxygen sensor 1 signal is out of range

The voltage signal being sent from the upstream oxygen sensor (Sensor 1, located before the catalytic converter) to the control module is falling outside the expected operational parameters.

   Scan for related codes (e.g., 060A, 060C, 0606) to pinpoint the exact circuit failure.

   Inspect the oxygen sensor wiring harness and the electrical connector for melting, corrosion, or physical damage.

   Use a multimeter to test the oxygen sensor's heating element for proper resistance.

   Check the wiring harness for continuity and ensure there are no short circuits to ground.

   Connect a diagnostic tool (such as Iveco E.A.S.Y., Modus, or IT2000) to read live parameters and verify if the sensor's voltage signal is stuck or fluctuating incorrectly while the engine is running.

   Locate the Sensor

   Identify Oxygen Sensor 1, which is threaded into the exhaust system upstream of the catalytic converter/DPF.

   Disconnect

   Carefully unplug the 4-wire electrical connector linking the sensor to the engine wiring harness.

   Removal

   Using a specialized oxygen sensor socket or wrench, loosen and remove the faulty sensor from the exhaust pipe.

   Preparation

   Check the threads of the new sensor. If it is not pre-greased, apply a small amount of high-temperature anti-seize compound to the threads (avoid getting any on the sensor tip).

   Installation

   Thread the new sensor into the exhaust by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten it securely with the sensor wrench.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the wiring harness.

   Clear Codes

   Use your diagnostic scanner to clear the 0605 fault code from the ECU memory and perform a test drive to ensure the code does not return.
