John Deere 00 – LC1: Folding Auger Position Voltage High
Issue description
The voltage signal from the folding auger position sensor is above the acceptable upper limit during calibration. A normal sensor operates between 0.5 and 4.5 VDC, but this fault indicates the voltage is reading higher than the specified limit (e.g., greater than 4.50 VDC in the straight position or greater than 2.50 VDC in the folded position). This high voltage condition prevents the system from accurately determining the position of the unloading auger, which leads to a calibration failure and disables one-touch folding operations.

Check the cause
Access the combine's display to view the LC1 control unit menu and record all active and stored diagnostic trouble codes.
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the folding auger position sensor and the LC1 control unit for pinched, chafed, or frayed wires, and ensure connections are clean and secure.
Inspect the sensor's mechanical linkage for damage, binding, or incorrect installation that could cause the sensor to read outside its intended range.
Monitor the live voltage reading from the folding auger position sensor (cc# 835) via the combine's diagnostic addresses to confirm if the voltage exceeds the normal 0.5 to 4.5 VDC operating range.
Repair steps
Repair wiring and linkage
Fix any damaged wires, clean or replace corroded connectors, and correct any mechanical linkage binding found during the diagnostic inspection.
Attempt recalibration
Run the unloading auger calibration procedure following the on-screen prompts. If calibration fails, proceed to the next step.
Adjust sensor linkage
If calibration fails due to high voltage, shorten the sensor linkage by approximately 5 mm (or 5 turns) to decrease the voltage reading. Attempt calibration again.
Test sensor output
Test the sensor's electrical output to verify if it responds correctly to physical movement.
Replace position sensor
If the sensor is faulty, replace it with a new Fold Position Unloading Auger Rotary Position Sensor. Perform a new calibration. If calibration still fails after replacement and wiring verification, the LC1 control unit may be at fault and requires dealer consultation.
