Issue description
The controller registers an active oil pressure reading while the engine speed is at 0 RPM. Because oil pressure is generated mechanically by the running engine, it is physically impossible to have oil pressure when the engine is off. This indicates a malfunction of the oil pressure sensor itself, an erroneous signal within the engine's monitoring system, or an open ground in the sensor circuit.

Check the cause
Verify Engine State: Ensure the engine is completely shut off (0 RPM) and the key is in the ON position to actively read the sensor data.
Visual Inspection: Locate the engine oil pressure sensor on the engine block. Inspect the sensor housing for physical damage or oil leaks.
Wiring and Connector Check: Disconnect the sensor harness. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.
Circuit Testing: Test the wiring harness back to the ECU. Verify the ground circuit has continuity (an open ground is a frequent cause of this code) and check for a short-to-voltage on the signal wire.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Turn the machine's ignition off and disconnect the battery ground to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Locate sensor
Locate the engine oil pressure sensor (typically located on the side of the engine block or near the oil filter housing, depending on the specific PowerTech engine model).
Unplug connector
Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.
Repair wiring
If diagnostic testing revealed a broken ground wire or damaged harness, repair the wiring loom and replace the connector pigtail as necessary.
Remove faulty sensor
If the wiring and ground test perfectly, the sensor has failed internally (stuck diaphragm or failed internal resistor). Use a wrench to unthread the faulty oil pressure sensor from the engine block.
Install new sensor
Thread the new OEM replacement sensor into the block. (Do not overtighten; refer to the specific engine's CTM for exact torque specs, though snugging it to standard NPT/straight-thread sensor specs is typical).
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the electrical harness until it clicks securely.
Clear codes
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position (without starting the engine), and use a diagnostic tool or the in-cab display to clear the ECU codes.
Verify repair
Verify that 000100.31 does not return while the engine is off. Start the engine to ensure normal oil pressure is registered.
