John Deere 101 – ECU: Crankcase Pressure Signal Extremely High
Issue description
The pressure inside the engine's crankcase has exceeded the maximum normal operating threshold. This abnormal pressure build-up can lead to oil leaks, reduced engine performance, and increased emissions.

Check the cause
Inspect the Blow-By Filter for restriction or clogging.
Check ventilation hoses routing to and from the crankcase ventilation filter to ensure they are not kinked, blocked by sludge, or frozen.
Verify the integrity of the crankcase pressure sensor and its wiring harness for faults, shorts to ground, or open circuits.
Evaluate internal engine health for severe problems like worn piston rings or cylinder wear causing excessive blow-by.
Repair steps
Locate the Filter
Locate the Open Crankcase Ventilation (OCV) / blow-by filter housing on the engine block.
Remove the Old Filter
Disconnect the ventilation hoses attached to the filter housing. Remove the housing cover and extract the old blow-by filter element.
Clean and Inspect
Wipe out the inside of the filter housing. Inspect the disconnected hoses for heavy oil sludge or blockages and clean them if necessary.
Install the New Filter
Insert the new John Deere blow-by filter element into the housing and secure the cover. Reconnect all hoses tightly to prevent leaks.
Clear the Code
Turn the ignition key off and back on to cycle the power. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the inactive 000101.00 code.
Test Run
Run the engine under load. If the code returns immediately, you will need to perform a mechanical crankcase pressure test and a cylinder leak-down test to diagnose internal engine wear (e.g., piston rings).
