John Deere 102.03 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor Signal High
Issue description
The measured boost/intake manifold pressure signal voltage exceeds the normal operating range (typically greater than 4.75V or 4.9V). This deprives the engine management system of accurate air intake data, causing the engine to use a default low-pressure value, enter a derated state, and disable Active Exhaust Filter cleaning.

Check the cause

Determine if the engine is being overfueled, which can cause erratic manifold pressure readings

Repair steps
Safety First
Turn off the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery power before servicing the sensor to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate the Sensor
Find the Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor (MAP sensor), which is typically mounted directly to the intake manifold.
Inspect and Clean
Disconnect the electrical connector. Clean the connector pins and inspect for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back pins.
Test the Sensor
Using a multimeter, verify the voltage at the sensor connector. If the wiring is intact, the power supply is correct, and the signal wire is still reading above 4.75V–4.9V, the sensor has failed internally.
Remove the Defective Sensor
Unthread or unbolt the sensor from the manifold. Clean the mounting area thoroughly to prevent contamination.
Install the New Sensor
Install the replacement sensor (apply thread sealant only if specified by the OEM design for your specific engine).
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back into the sensor, ensuring the connector clicks into place securely.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible John Deere diagnostic tool (like Service ADVISOR) or the in-cab display to clear the stored 000102.03 fault code.
Test Operation
Start the engine and verify that the sensor readings are normal and the derate condition has been lifted.
